Botanicals
Painting living plants and flowers always brings me delight. I examine the petals, are they soft or translucent? How do the leaves attach to the stem? What is the texture of the leaves and stem? Are there thorns? I look for movement, new growth, dryness and moisture. Can I understand more deeply what I’m looking at? The challenge is to paint it so it stays “alive” on the paper.
